The Last Summer

lyrics

the weather's getting warmer
the Dogwood's are in bloom
we've gone hiking down at Ijams on occasion this is true
and the buskers are in season,
they are down on Market Square
and there are children in the fountain laughing-
that's the true Lord's Prayer

this is the last summer in the Queen City of the Mountain

and there are festivals parading down
in a cloud of nicotine
we've been drinking lots of water
she's off high-life's and caffeine
and we've been buying up used novels
though we haven't read them let
and on a walk through the old city
I smoked my last cigarette

this is the last summer in the Heart of the Valley

there are sunsets on the Sunsphere that will take your breath away
and I am whispering the name we chose together every day
